If an app can already tell me whether a stock is halal, why do I need an advisor too?

It’s a reasonable thing to wonder. There are now several good screening apps and services out in the marketplace today. Each does something a little different, but broadly, they help investors check whether a stock passes Shariah screens.

This paper is not intended to be a review or ranking of those tools. It’s an honest answer to a narrower question: is getting a screening result the same as having an accountable process that governs, implements, and monitors that decision inside your portfolio?
